Property Description
Centenary House in Eugaria, Serra de Sintra
The "Casa da Folha" is a century-old village house, typically "saloia", fully restored, with the romantic ideal inspired by Sintra in mind.
It is a refuge where time flows at a different pace and where it is still possible to feel the true Sintra mountains that have inspired so many great poets and painters without being affected by the turbulence of the thousands of tourists who visit Sintra every day.
The space:
The house is spread over three floors. The rooms are not large, since the traditional architectural plans of the traditional "saloia" house were respected during the restoration process. On all floors you will find a predominance of warm red tones, wood and rustic stone.
On the ground floor there is the dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The wall of the dining room maintains the particularity of a large stone from the Sintra mountains inlaid and a wooden cell painted with romantic motifs inspired by the period.
On the middle floor there is a bedroom with a four-poster bed and a rustic window. The bathroom is equipped with a 19th century bathtub and a stone toilet.
This floor also provides access to a small interior courtyard with trees.
The top floor leads to a living room with a piano (not tuned) and a private library and an interesting view of the village, the mountains and the seaside. A bedroom with a box-spring bed inspired by the old Nordic tradition and also a superb view of the surrounding landscape.
The "Casa da Folha" is surrounded by other small country houses and manor houses that bring a taste of 19th century Portugal. It is a great starting point for walks with several paths that cross the hills of Sintra.
Located on the northern slopes of the Sintra mountains, you can only reach Eugaria by car via the 'Estrada Nova da Rainha', the old road that crosses the Sintra Natural Park.
There are no shops in the village, just country houses, manor houses and a small chapel.
It is 2 km away from the village of Colares where you can fi
